Every now and then when I have a group of photos that belong together I’ll put them up here.
SEATTLE VEGETABLES OF LATE SUMMER
Edible flowers – nasturtiums, what looks like calendula or oddly inedible strawflower, (Helychrysum) and nigella (aka love-in-a-mist or devil-in-a-bush) the seeds are used in Indian cooking.

Well, it may not be as high as an elephant’s eye but it is corn, and a rather pretty one to boot.
Those crazy black tomatoes. See the post.
Espaliered apples – If they look like they have tails to you, you’d be right. They are wearing pantyhose, a time-consuming but effective deterrent for apple maggots.
Close-up of apples in stockings – My husband thinks we can make our millions coming up with snazzy versions of these socks. The Angry Birds was definitely the best idea.
Artichoke – It’s not so bad if you don’t pick them all
Borage – another self-sowing edible flower, often put in drinks.
Chard
Chives of some sort, I think they are garlic chives rather than regular old chives.
Multiple eggplants in Seattle after a slow start to summer – wow!
Red runner beans
I really don’t know my squashes but it looks like an psychedelic orange zucchini to me, with some bright nasturtiums in front.
